Overview of the Sighting Incident
S. nationals traveling by train in the USSR reported a sighting of an unconventional aircraft. The incident occurred approximately two hours and forty minutes after departing from Baku, as the train moved slowly towards Tiflis.
One member of the group initially spotted the object and called attention to it, prompting the others to look out the window. They observed a large airfield between the train and the Caspian Sea, where a triangular object was illuminated by a searchlight. S.
jet fighter, and featured three distinct lights—one at each corner of the triangle. As they watched, the object was seen to launch from its position on the airfield. The launch was characterized by a series of rapid spirals, estimated to be between three and seven, before it ascended steeply at a 45-degree angle.
